In 1970 they scored
a Number One hit in the US
(only #3 in The Netherlands)
with ‘Venus’…

in 1965 – including the late
famous singer Mama Elliot Cass
Sounds familiar? You bet !
Songwriter Robbie Van Leeuwen
of Shocking Blue was never sued…

The Banjo Song was actually a reworked
version of ‘Oh! Susanna”
A minstrel song by Stephen Foster
first published in 1848
and covered a million times afterwards…
