Time For Some Rockabilly – Meet, Myles and The Longshots

myles2

Thursday calls out loud for some rockabilly madness. For all fans of rock ‘n’ roll / rockabilly , I highly encourage you to take a few minutes and give Myles and The Longshots some serious attention. It’s all there including the most important ingredient- FUN!

Meet – Myles and The Longshots

for those unfamiliar with your bands history, can you tell us all how you all met up and decided to start a band ?

Tammy Lynn and I met as musicians, working in our respective bands. We were both in New England at the time. We started booking gigs together, and later began collaborating on writing songs. That musical partnership evolved into this band (and getting married, but that’s another story).

who would you list as your musical influence?

Tammy Lynn: Fleetwood Mac, Joan Jett, Linda Rondstadt, Iggy Pop, Wanda Jackson, CCR, Grace Slick, Melanie, Heart.

Mike Myles: Beatles, The Clash, Chuck Berry, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Fripp/Crim, Muddy Waters, SRV, Led Zep, Bobby Keyes, Paul Pigat.

whats the coolest thing that’s happened to you as a band since you started up?

Moving to Austin TX… Live music capital of the WORLD!!!

what are your hopes and dreams as a band for the next few years.

Focus on writing and recording new original material, and getting it heard.

what are some of your favorite albums from the past few years?

JD McPherson’s – Signs & Signifiers
The Modern Sounds – Hold It Fellas / Stomp Stomp
Bobby Keyes – Dojogobo
Mr Nick & the Dirty Tricks – OH WOW!
Pokey LaFarge – Pokey LaFarge
Imelda May – Love Tattoo

Do you see any real use for social media , or is it all just a pain in the ass to keep with?

Mostly a pain in the ass… but sometimes you make worthwhile connections.

Do you pay attention to reviews or comments from people about your music or do you just turn that noise off.

Never really pay much attention.

If you could tour anywhere in the world , where would you want to go.

Europe.

Can music save the mortal soul or is just a good backbeat to your life.

Depends… on the music, and if you have a soul.

Any last thoughts for your fans?

Hi Leo & Maryann! 😉
