Next up in our series of Bands playing at Gonerfest Eleven is Connections. I’ve read quite a few reviews of Connections and every one of them mentions Guided By Voices. Both from Ohio, short songs , smart, well written, I get that but I’m also picking up some Big Star and to me that adds quite a bit to the overall vibe. It’s Pop for smart people not Pop that finds it’s way to the covers of out of touch rock magazines. Pop for the kids that never forgot what melodies and hooks and a little bit of fuzz add to the past to create something new and improved. Short, sweet songs, give a listen and be prepared to dig deeper into all these gems….
