This ‘ Meet The Band’ is our 1st one made possible by our friends at Soundflat Records. Soundflat Records specializes in contemporary bands that produce 60’s Garage Punk; Beat, Mersey Beat, Frat Rock, Rock’N’Roll, Punk, etc. and their main focus is on releases in vinyl. I think Soundflat Records fits perfectly in bringing you the kinds of bands that warrant more attention. The 1st Band up is The Smoggers. Garage Rock at its best for sure, this band is doing it all the right way , plenty of fuzz and cool ass tunes and for all of you that dig garage rock as much as I do, you will add The Smoggers to your playlist, starting today. This is from their website and it pretty much sums up my thoughts, They have drawn the attention of underground connoisseurs both in Spain and overseas with a fresh, personal sound that mixes fuzz-driven 60s punk aggression and a dance-compelling primitive beat. Be advised: no claims accepted for damaged boots!

Questions:

For those unfamiliar with your bands history, can you tell us all how you all met up and decided to start a band ?

We met in a small village on the high montains from South of Spain where we only could drink beer and talk about Rock’n’Roll! One night we decided to stop shattering and start playing, but we realized that we couldn’t play at all! But who cared? We had the important stuff: a garage, a 200€ drum-set a Fuzz pedal, three Cool covers (“Take a heart” from The Sorrows, “Strychnine” from The Sonics and “1-2-5” from The Haunted) and a lot of attitude!

Who would you list as your musical influence?.
We love the Underground Rock’n’Roll music and all over the 60’s Garage-Punk as Sonics, Electras, Swamp Rats, Back from the Grave and other similar compilations but maybe our biggest influences come from the 80’S Revival (early Fuzztones, Outta Place, Gravedigger V, Crimson Shadows, early Cynics, Gruesomes, Primates, Stomachmouth, Lust-O-Rama, Cramps…)

Whats the coolest thing that’s happened to you as a band since you started up?

The best thing is to play in different countries around Europe and to know lot of Cool guys in this small scene and great bands.
It’s always different! and sometimes happens strange things. Once we went to play in a fest in Geneve (Swiss). We found a horror house similar to The Gruesomes cover LP, Without own light, without stage. We only saw a downstairs to the basement where the fest was going on! We thought that we could died there for a moment! Finally we had a lot of fun with a lot of people! Strange day!!

What are your hopes and dreams as a band for the next few years.

To Win one million dollars, he he he! We really want to edit our third album on Soundflat Records and to play again and again!

What are some of your favorite albums from the past few years?
We are usually spinnin’ a 60’s and 80’s/90’s garage bands! But If you ask about a few years ago, we love “Lost in Tyme” Satelliters LP, The both Staggers albums, Attention albums, Branded LP’s , “Alligator” LP from The Routes, the first one from The Barbacans,The Morning After LP, the latest from The Woggles and a few latest edited 60’s Garage compilations too!. About Spanish bands we like The Moonstones albums and the first One LP from Las Aspiradoras.

Do you see any real use for social media , or is it all just a pain in the ass to keep with?
Nowadays, people can be closer to The underground bands and know their music and express their oppinion and support their favourites. So, It’s always a pleasure to use the social media to contact with people from different countries.

Do you pay attention to reviews or comments from people about your music or do you just turn that noise off.
Of course, we read reviews about us because It’s funny to see that some people hate us and some people love our music.

If you could tour anywhere in the world , where would you want to go
.
We have played all around Europe but to play in USA to see guns and cowboy hats would be different, he he he! We would really like to play there because It’s at 60’S Garage-Punk home.

Can music save the mortal soul or is just a good backbeat to your life.

Rock’n’Roll is our way of life but no doubt, Rock’n’Roll is Dead!!!

Any last thoughts for your fans?
Fuzz On!!!
