If you don’t listen to my show Everything and the Kitchen Sink you probably missed me getting far too excited about this artist and her upcoming album. So let me break it down for you in an EatKS style blog.
This past year, I went to NXNE here in Toronto. It’s an amazing music festival that showcases some serious talent. And that leads us right back to Simone Denny. Now, Simone Denny is well known for her music collaborations in the Canadian dance group Love Inc. She has sold many albums, charted the billboards, she has an impressive resume of music. But I have to tell you, her show at the Stereo Dynamite showcase at the NXNE festival blew me away and her voice gave me goosebumps. Here’s the review of her show at the NXNE festival from Exclaim Magazine.
Simone Denny is currently working on a her solo debut album and it’s described as an organic, stripped- down, R and B soul sound. And yes this is a departure from her previous dance music collaborations but in her own words;
“I grew up singing along to old Soul and Rock And Roll records with my parents around the house. That’s how I learned to sing,” says Simone. “Now, finally having the opportunity to create an album that reminds me of that wonderful time in my life, is something truly special to me.”
So really, she’s just going back to singing the music that started her on her musical career path in the first place. It’s always a good thing. Don’t believe me? Check out her power house of a voice right here folks.
Simone Denny’s single will be available January 7th 2014 via iTunes (maybe bandcamp?) (mark that shit on your calenders folks!)
Her full Album titled Stereo Dynamite Sessions Vol. 1 will be available in the spring (another date for your calendars folks!)
