One of the great things about going out to catch a band you really like is the chance you’ll find another great act in the opening lineup. It happens to me all the time. Back in February I got my big chance to see one of the most humorous bands I know, The Four Eyes, perform at a small venue in Sacramento, Bows and Arrows. I’d already caught two of the opening acts at other shows, but the third band caught me by surprise with their high energy sound.

The Scouse Gits are a Sacramento Rhythm and Blues band with a sharp, punk edge. When they started playing my mind immediately jumped to compare them to Texas punk legends, Poison 13. While they’re not as rough and abrasive, The Scouse Gits play some rockin’ trashy stuff. They draw their inspiration from a long, diverse line of greats, from Howlin’ Wolf to The Pretty Things!

As a general rule, I prefer bands who lack a certain level of technical skill, but this band builds on the aggressive passion of untrained punks with real musicianship. You’ve already missed them at De-Bauch-A-Reno, but they are playing again real soon. Catch the Scouse Gits with the Chuckleberries in Oakland on May 10th, 2013.

So far as I can tell, there is no Bandcamp page or other release info online at this time, but rest assured…I will be following what they do next and I’ll let you know!

Here, enjoy a minute or two of video I shot at the Bows and Arrows show:
