Record of the Day…Volcano by Ghost Of The Avalanche

Bath, UK noise-punk duo – Ghost Of The Avalanche have spent the last two years writing and honing their craft on the road with the likes of Stiff Little Fingers, Pulled Apart By Horses, The Dickies, The Damned, The 68′ and The Picturebooks.

Bassist Nick Wiltone (ex-The Operation / EMP!RE) and drummer Miles Per-Hour (ex-Haters / The Joe Public) recorded their new EP “This Is Earth” with producer Ben Findlay (Robert Plant, Peter Gabriel, Goldfrapp) and lay down five tracks that straddle the line between Misfits punk sing-alongs, Fugazi-like hardcore, and catchy pop.

Yes, really.

The first single – Volcano, fuses the stoner rock of Queens of the Stone Age with the folk punk of New Model Army for a super hooky ride.

Oh yeah, and the ‘This Is Earth’ EP artwork was created by legendary 2000 AD/Judge Dredd artist Shaky Kane. I have a feeling that GOTA are going to be a favourite around here.

This Is Earth will be released on the September 18th, 2015 available digitally worldwide (iTunes, Spotify, Amazon mp3) and on limited-edition transparent red vinyl through Casseblank Records/Grebo Records.

Domestic now, but spent early to late 80s playing drums in a hair metal band in Toronto. Since then I've lost the hair and have found new ways to scratch the rock and roll itch.
