Record Of The Day ! Soulful Sax Melancholy – THE AUTUMN STONES

Who/home: four romanticism inspired, politically outspoken and highly skilled songsmiths out of Toronto, Canada – Members: Ciaran Megahey (voice/guitar), Marcus Tamm (bass), Matthew McLaughlin (drums) and Gary Butler (saxophone)
Track: END OF FAITH – from their second album ‘Escapists’ (2015)
Score: a striking grower of a tower of song – the nostalgic vocals, the melancholic swagger and the malcontent lyrics may remind you of a legendary British band of the eighties but they didn’t have a fabulous saxophonist like The Autumn Stones do (that one time that Johnny Marr played sax, on a blue Monday, to embarrass the stubborn singer of his famous band doesn’t count)…

It’s that warm and soulful instrument that gives the band a colorful identity of their own and that injects this slow moving, epic shaped masterstroke with a sensual spiced vibe…

While the band is about to play pool we’ll listen to new album ‘Escapists’. You’ll discover many colors, layers and most of all solid dream pop songs to embrace in the dark winter days to come…
