Record of the Day…Settle For Lust by Pink Lizards

PinkLizards

I love when something lands in the inbox and blows our socks off – check out Brighton’s Pink Lizards.

Settle For Lust is pure psychedelic blues sludge – wicked wah-wah guitar, pounding drums and bass, and the sultry rasp of singer Daisy Coburn. This song slithers with the doom of Zeppelin’s No Quarter. It sounds like Hope Sandoval fronting Queens of the Stone Age, or a spaced out Concrete Blonde.

Pink Lizards are a 20 something trio who, by their own admission are heavily influenced by Pink Floyd – particularly the Syd Barrett trippy The Piper At the Gates of Dawn Pink Floyd. As a side note, Daisy was once a shooting star in the music business, signed to Sony with a hit on the UK charts as Daisy Dares You. Pink Lizards is a hell of a long way away from DDY so that’s all I’m going to say about that.

Can’t wait to hear more.
