Record of the Day….The Wrecking Ball Unchained by Wild Throne

I will admit to talking to myself when listening to Wild Throne, mostly mumbling expletives under my breath about how killer this band is. Wild Throne is a power trio from Bellingham, Washington (they used to be called Dog Shredder), and their debut EP – Blood Maker, was produced by Ross Robison (ex-guitarist for Détente and producer of Korn, The Cure, At The Drive-In).

The band describes their sound as “a dynamic mix of elements of Judas Priest, Mastodon, Queen, the Mars Volta, classic metal, thrash and progressive rock”, which just about covers it. The only thing I would add is that listening to these three songs is like going 10 rounds with Sonny Liston. It will leave you black and blue.

I had a hard time choosing which of the three songs from Blood Maker to post as Record of the Day. In the end I went with the lead track – The Wrecking Ball Unchained – an absolutely devastating epic beast of a song – 6 minutes and 19 seconds of sonic precision – it just floors me.

I can only hope that we will have a full length Wild Throne album very soon.

Domestic now, but spent early to late 80s playing drums in a hair metal band in Toronto. Since then I've lost the hair and have found new ways to scratch the rock and roll itch.
