Off their debut album, Some Things Last Longer Than You, “Respite” is our record of the day from Doe. The album released earlier this month in the UK, is getting a lot of action in my ears. I love this slow syrup-y feel to the beginning of their songs, as if you are listening from far away and the sounds just creep closer and closer until they are in your face blowing your hair back and staring deep into your eyes and blasting in your head. Doe has a grungy, garage-punk vibe and it’s reminiscent of Sleater-Kinney and Nirvana, the chords striking hard and drums beating intense and without remorse. Doe is Nicola, Jake and Dean from London and Some Things Last Longer Than You will be available October 9 in the US, via Old Flame. It’s release is limited to 250 and will show up on blood-red wax.
