Psycho Sundae Show 3 and Mini Reviews

Psycho Sundae show number 3 took place this morning from 10.30am UK time, with a theme of cover versions.  We got some fantastic suggestions from our followers, which we played beside some of our own favourites.

Psycho King Dave – @whozthecat – has also written a few more mini reviews of some of his favourite psych and garage rock cover versions, which all featured in today’s show.

Giöbia – Are You Lovin’ Me More (But Enjoying It Less)

An Italian band who combine Psych with Garage and Space Rock to quite dramatic effect. This Electric Prunes cover strangely found it’s way on to both ‘Hard Stories’ and the brilliant ‘Introducing Night Sounds’ albums. If you’re new to Giöbia now would be a great time to give them a whirl as in September their eagerly awaited 4th album ‘Magnifier’ is due for release.

The X-Ray Harpoons – Psychedelic Siren

Cologne based Garage/Psych Rockers who followed up two highly promising singles with 2014’s monumental album ‘Get Attuned To Our Tyme’.  Our featured track is a cover of The Daybreaks’ penned gem ‘Psychedelic Siren’.  If you like this, their album is a must, fuzz guitars entwined with Mellotron and organ, all held together with huge catchy melodies.

The Inmates – Dirty Water

The Inmates are a British Rhythm and Blues band who formed from the ashes of the Flying Tigers. The featured track is an old Standells classic and appears on The Inmates’ criminally overlooked debut album 1979’s’ First Offence’. The album also sees ‘Eddie’ of Vibrators fame occupying drums on all but one track, however he refused to be included on the front cover of the album alongside the rest of the band due to his commitment with The Vibrators….Enjoy!
