Psycho Sundae Mini Reviews – European Bands

Psycho King Dave – @whozthecat –  has written a few more mini reviews of 3 bands who featured in today’s show, which featured psych and garage tunes from bands from Europe.

The Revellions – Sighs

The Revellions are from Dublin, Ireland and combine Garage Rock and Soul with a hint of psych thrown in.
Our featured track was originally released as a single back in 2010 but made its way onto their outstanding second album ‘Give It Time’ (2014).  It was always going to be a tall order making a credible follow up to their impressive debut and we had to wait 6 years to get it.  However it was well worth the wait; let’s hope we don’t have to wait another 6 years for a third album.
Dead Skeletons – Dead Mantra
Dead Skeletons are from Iceland and their core line up is made up of Jon Saemundur Audarson, Henrik Bjonsson (Singapore Sling) and Ryan Van Kreidt (Asteroid #4).
They originally formed as an accompaniment for a show at an art museum which is where our featured track was born.  It’s kind of a spiritual battle song which carries the slogan ‘he who fears death cannot enjoy life’ bearing relevance to the fact that Jon has been HIV positive for over 20 years now.  Dead Mantra is also the first track on the absorbing Dead Magick album from 2011.
New Candys – Overall
New Candys are from Italy and our featured track is from their superb 2015 album As Medicine which was produced by John Wills (Loop’s original drummer).
The first time I heard this track it absolutely blew my mind, the 2 minute outro propelled me onto another planet – fuzzed up, reverb laden Rock ‘N Roll Psych. If you get a chance also seek out their first album Stars Reach The Abyss, this is equally as good.  They’re a band with confidence and a swagger, a band who actually knows how good they are……Enjoy!
