When we started 50thirdand3rd.com we wanted it to be about old and new music that we all like and above all else we wanted that music to be diverse and representative of all music. Too many blogs get bogged down being punk or garage or alternative or hip. I do my best to stay disconnected from letting the powers that be tell me what it is I should like/buy. I go where my ears take me. Today that is the music of Erica Bryan. Southern Soul and a whole lot more. Beautiful voice, great songs and catchy as hell. I’m not one to pick the “stars” because I know there is a whole lot more than talent that goes into making anyone a star but if talent counts for 50% of that Erica Bryan has what it takes to make it to the bright lights.
How would you describe your tunes?
I describe them as dark, southern, soul.
What was the first record you ever bought? And where did you buy it?
The first record I bought was the Spice Girls. I don’t remember where I got it, but I think I was 8 years old. I jammed pretty hard to that CD.
Which musician , other than yourself, have you ever wanted to be?
I would love to be Kelly Clarkson. She says, sings, and wears whatever she wants, and I think it’s awesome.
What Is You favorite Saturday Night Record?
For night drives, I love listening to “No One’s Gonna Love You” by Band of Horses. “Nightswimming” by REM is always a go-to night song as well.
And your Sunday Morning Record?
For more peppier day time songs, right now I’m in to “All About that Bass” by Meghan Trainor and “Priscilla” by Miranda Lambert
