Let’s get this out of the way off the top – indie folk band Ok Vancouver Ok are from Vancouver, BC – one of the most beautiful cities on the planet, and also one of the most expensive.
So it goes that the band mostly writes about the struggles of living in a city where the average house price hovers close to $1 million and the average 1 bedroom rental will cost you close to $2000 a month, not to mention the myriad of social issues that come with such disparity.
The current lineup is comprised of Jeff Johnson (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), KMVP (bass, vocals,) and Laura House (drums) and together the sound is akin to the Velvet Underground with the lo-fi hooks of Car Seat Headrest.
Their brand new single “Angel Runnin” / “Narwhal: Unicorn of the Polar Sea” has been released by our friends at Six Tonnes De Chair Records. Angel Runnin is taken from their 2016 LP Black Part of Light and Narwhal is an unreleased track from 2013’s Food Water Shelter.
