I can’t believe it’s been a year since I’ve put up a playlist of my own. Time beats us all that’s for sure but these songs are all tunes that I love to play, most of them are from within the last year . Yesterday I asked a few musician friends if they would like to put together a mix tape and share it on 50thirdand3rd and I’m pleased to say that all 7 that I asked said yes. This idea comes from Kimmy of Beach Day who talks about the lost art of the mix tape and how much fun it is to put together songs that you love for someone else to listen to. When we all started this site all of us opened accounts on 8tracks.com in the hopes of finding time to put together playlist to share with a then audience of ourselves. Almost two years later and we are still at it , fighting the fight to bring you the coolest new tunes around. I am very excited about the new music that will be coming our way in 2015, the idea that rock n roll today doesn’t measure up to the good old days is nonsense. I’m old enough to have lived through those good old days and I’m telling you that I am just as eager to listen to new tunes from some of my favorite bands of today as I was when I went to National Record Mart to pick up my copy of Diamond Dogs.
