Since I was a young boy, I had always felt the connection to Punk music…. the stripped down instrumentation, the angst, the aggressiveness. But it wasn’t until I heard Patti Smith that I also realized the music could be beautiful too. Patti Smith fused poetry and rock music and in my opinion, she WAS the “Godmother of Punk“.
Below is one of my favorite songs from the album “Horses”
Happy Birthday Patti.
“Every night before I rest my head
See those dollar bills go swirling ’round my bed.
I know they’re stolen, but I don’t feel bad.
I take that money, buy you things you never had….”
