Graham Parker was born 18 November 1950. An outstanding singer-songwriter, a British rock & soul legend with an amazing repertoire and an incredibly energetic performer on stage. Many know him as the frontman of Graham Parker & The Rumour . With this band he made his, to my ears, most impressive and highly praised album ‘Squeezing Out Sparks’. A captivating masterpiece released in 1979.
Yet he was most productive as a solo artist and released several memorable LP’s. He was close with Bob Dylan and toured around the world with the imperishable troubadour. Like Dylan, Parker still is a 24/7 musician at heart, performing live and recording. Just two years ago he played an intense and touching acoustic concert in my hometown Ghent (Belgium). It was a privilege to have a short chat with Mister Parker after the show. The man’s unique talent is untouchable. His most recent album ‘Mystery Glue‘ (reunion with the Rumour) is vintage Parker quality. Respect ! Let’s celebrate the 65th birthday of a genuine artist with some classic sparks…
