THE FRUMPIES – ‘Wrong Way Round’ – RECORD OF THE DAY

So I probably should have posted this track last week, as I feel it’s a good 4th of July song for miscreants and malcontents.

The Frumpies
were a supergroup of sorts with members of Bikini Kill, Bratmobile, and The Make Up. I’ve had a few conversation with Bikini Kill’s Tobi Vail about this particular track which has always been a favorite of mine. She says the song was built areound a “throwaway” Bikini Kill riff. I beleive Kathi is on vocals on this one and its a thing of lo-fi trash-punk beauty beginning to end. I’d really like to be hearing more stuff like this NOW.

THE FRUMPIES – WRONG WAY ROUND Lyrics
All our friends are down and out in America
Nothing left to do in America
Jumping up and down in America
We’re just hanging around in America
Out of cash, got a rash, spies are picking through my trash
Having fun, summer sun, wrong way round will never come
It’s 1996 in America
We can’t get our kicks in America
All the bands sound like U2 in America
Nothing left to do in America
I confess it’s a mess, chicks are looking up my address
Having fun, summer sun, wrong way round will never come
Will never come
