Artist: Courtney Barnett (Melbourne, Australia)
Album: ‘Sometimes I Sit And I Think, Sometimes I Just Sit’
Release: March 23/24, 2015.
My first impression: she’s the queen of lazy guitar pop/rock swagger land – a perfect soundtrack for her humorous, cynical, smart and at times very poignant lyrics – her deadpan narrative voice, almost at rap speed, is just marvelous – Barnett is at her best when she’s on a roll, when she conjures contagious garage pop tunes – this is the real debut album after compiling her two debut EPs last year (‘The Double EP: A Sea Of Split Peas’).
Highlights: Pedestrian At Best / An Illustration Of Loneliness (Sleepless In New York) / Depreston / Dead Fox / Kim’s Caravan
