THE BUZZARDS – The Return of Detroit Garage Legends The Buzzards! – RECORD OF THE DAY

The Buzzards made quite a bit of noise during the late 90’s early 2000’s wave of Detroit garage and rock n roll, a scene that brought international attention to bands like Bantam Rooster, The Dirtbombs, Detroit Cobras, and of course most famously, The White Stripes. The Buzzards feature Joe Burdick (The Dirtys) on bass and vocals, Maribel Restepo (Detroit Cobras) on lead guitar, and twins Nancy and Leslie Paterra on drums and guitar. They featured on the ‘Sympathetic Sounds of Detroit‘ compilation with a cut that always stood out to me among some pretty stiff competition, but a proper single for the band didn’t see the light of day until 2009. They have a new single coming out on Detroit’s excellent JETT PLASTIC RECORDINGS. And their first live date since 2002 on September 1st in Hamtramck, Michigan, at Panic In Hamtramck #12 w/ Human Eye and like a whole mess of other great bands.

Here are the Buzzards with the video for ‘You Got Me Down’, shot on 16mm back in 2001. Keep an eye out for cameos from White Stripes,  Ko Melina (Ko & the Knockouts, Dirtbombs), and Ben Blackwell.
