Black Diamond – Yoshiki

I was living in Cuba when I first spotted an all cover album of the band KISS. I was a semi KISS fan so I thought I would check it out. While laying on the beach, listening to it on my Sony Walkman (yes, this was before i-pods) I really wasn’t all that impressed by the first 10 songs (Garth Brooks?) but when I heard the first notes to “Black Diamond” (one of my fav KISS songs) my ears perked up. It was just so beautiful, a 72 piece orchestral arrangement created by Yoshiki, (former leader and co-founder of the Japanese band X Japan) I was never really into the Orchestral music thing but this song opened my eyes to the genre. If your gonna buy the album, I think it’s worth it for this song alone.
